(Cheerful priest) HW 12p m:"whenevver I read..re first disciples..q that strikes me..is why ..[banging hands] ..leave nets..go with him..obvious answer..he is jesus..duh..he's the 2nd person of trinity..but they didn't know this at the time..nor did they know what as coming..nor transfig..crucifix..rsrrection..why..go ? No insurance back then..only security is family..starvatiion is a real pssblt..were first generation...food is enemy..have so much of it..starvation not real pssblts..for us..they're nets r their livelihood..nets so expensive..couldn't buy..jiust in herit or become paartner..blue collar fellows with little..if lose net..sell self to slavery to feed children..so why follow Jesus..if sb asked u to give up bank acct, leave family..and follow me ..would u do it ..what would it take to get u to do that ? ..scrp says "miraculou catch" ..but can't be just that..maybe just a coincidence..no single big catch would convince them to bc homeless ? As reflect more ..what did it..? Reason was his look..his glance..nobody had seen them that way before..only pssblt..gave them the courage..what saw in his eyes..only his eyes..we've preserved a lot..his touch..when ordained..bishop puts hands..taste of jesus ..eucharist..hear word..scrp..feel, hear, taste..but don't have his eyes..so easier and harder today..easier bc we prob won't b crucified..lot easier today in that regard ..but harder b/c we don't have His eyes looking at us..that glance...what we hope for our beloved dead..that they will get the peace we don't have..its that glance..will see ..not condemnation, not rejection...that the glance will never leave them..when we r face 2 face w/ Jesus..hope says "well done faithful servant"..and the glance..and that's all we will need"
Rom 10:9-18 Brothers and sisters: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For one believes with the heart and so is justified and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. The Scripture says No one who believes in him will be put to shame. There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all enriching all who call upon him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news! But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?
eved what was heard from us? Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ But I ask, did they not hear? Certainly they did; for Their voice has gone forth to all the earth and their words to the ends of the world
