11/2/10 The "OTHER" VALLEY CHRISTIAN

...my grandfather Rev. Gareth Kok founded Valley Christian schools in Cerritos/Bellflower back in the late 30's...as an extension of the (Dutch) Christian Reformed Church...when that area of southern Cal was mostly dairy farms & dutch immigrants were coming to America & trying to settle in...so my grandfather, who spoke Dutch, started a church & a Christian school & preached in Dutch & English & helped Dutch immigrants find jobs...& Valley Christian is still in business to this day...& not just for the Dutch anymore...so I was driving thru San Jose today (11/2/10) & saw a sign for "Valley Christian" but missed the main turn..& ended up on this street where I could just barely see one of the buildings for the school...but good enough to tell my story...I remember seeing Valley Christian in the Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco & wondering if it was my grandpa's school (I almost attended the school back in '84 when we moved to southern Cal but ended up finishing in Michigan...my younger bro went there..)..I wonder how many other Valley Christian schools there are in the USA ?
