4/17/11 cblog, TIME IS NOT ON OUR SIDE, USE IT WISELY, THEN ENJOY ETERNAL LIFE; holy wave 11a Pastor dan m: "..it was a peaceful..entry...palm Sunday..palms..they were praising him..Jesus could have got sidetracked..this waas a good time for Jesus..suddenly disciples are saying this is good..finally..as people say "king of israel'...they were enjoying the moment..but not Jesus..he was so focused on the cross..he would not allow people to get to him...lessons we could ..[reading scrip, john 12.20-26 "...father will honor who serves me..." this is a passage day and half after his entry..this is the least known even..this reveals His determination..intent to go all the way to the cross..Jesus did NOT want the cross, but he wanted the after-effects..today's title "life beyond living'..u can live a life w/o having the life..first thing.#1, btw..bulletin..in back..message outline.."be wise with our time".(john 12.20-31)..time flies..seems like just christmas..now almost easter..b/f u know. It will be thanksgiving..I just turned 40..my son just born already..inhaled exhaled my life half over..next month 12th anniversary..time flies..where does it go..couple of greeks to worship in jrslm..unusual for greeks to come there..they come knocking..philip answers door.."wait a moment.." asks andrew..they go to Jesus "the hour has come for the son of man to be glorified" (v23) imagine andrew..puzzled..what he's saying is this..first, is difficult to evangelize..isn't it..but when people come looking its easier....what Jesus is talking about is his imminent death..to go to the cross..when study salvation..when saved, 3 tenses,,justification..sanctification ...then glorification..be wise with time..people talk abt killing time..jokes..but really time can't be killed..in fact time will kill u ...then jesus talks aby a kernal of wheat..love life, lose it..must hate life..hyperbole..exagerrating....how many have annual pass to disneyland..? I love disney..ours just expired..thanking of renewing..idk if happiest place b/c so expensive..maybe most expensive place..people excited, funny hats..tram takes u to the park..u have small world, matterhorn, teacup my favorite..nobody thinks of the tram..nobody says "tram so fun"..that's our life..were on the tram..much better coming..like going to movie..u see previews..that's our life..a preview..the actual movie is eternal life. ...this life,,not important? Yes it is..your life is god's gift to u..what u do with it is your gift back to god..invest your time..trn it into something that honors god..finally v 26 'be wise with your service" jn 12.26. ...we hear "service" all the time..not juust volunteering..parking lot attendant.."whoever serves me must follow me.."..new test. 2 greek words "doulous" (slave).our rshp w/ Jesus..also diakonia...(serving w/ one another) ..Jesus used word "diakonia"..to serve, not be slave..to serve one another..meaning going 'all out' to the point of suffering....do what I did says Jesus..not on the cross but for one another in the body of christ..being a deacon to one another..our culture has conditioned us to ask..what's in it for me ? We all grew up watching sesame street..why> ? They always ask..the answer is that God will honor u .not much time..just turned 40 ..whats exciting..that much closer to glorification..Jesus says "good job "..u used time wisely, served others..let's party.." let's go.don't settle for less..the .pf h.
