10/29/11 The REAL RON RHODES re HOW WE KNOW CHRIST AROSE; (I thought the previous lecture abt cultists at your door was Ron Rhodes, but apparently not, because this was a different person, & the actual ron rhodes, so I don't know who the previous fellow was, apparently their topics are interchangeable for the speakers or the schedule was mis-printed, the other speaker re cultists may have been paul copan (altho I think he did the speech on homosexuality) or ed hindson, or tim lahaye or randall price) BEGIN; HE says unitarian universalists have a strong influence..[this is where I came in on the lecture...he's talking about groups that dontbelieve in physical ressurection].."....Islam doesn't blv in ress, jehovah witness..only spiritual ress, bahai says no ress, But WITHOUT RESSURECTION, there's no Christianity. Key to gospel is ressurection, 1 cor 15.1-6, "..if Christ not risen.." ..also resurrection was predicted...mentions several verses incl ps 16.10-11, acts 13.33, ..talks about proof of ress...tomb empty (4000 pound stone not easily pushed aside), seal broken (penalty by death), guards fled (also death penalty), body missing.., same body..(mentions seed analogy), 1 cor 15.42-43, luke 24.39, (he mentions bereans), acts 2.31 "raised in flesh", reference to gundry's study of "soma" (greek for flesh), witnesses, ring of authenticity, 1st appeard to mary mag (missed his point), also ress. Explains transformation of disciples..he references barry leventhal,..also jews abandoned judaism to follow Jesus, can only be explained by somethingas extraordinary as a resurrection, also James, the half-bro of Jesus..once he came to believe spent the rest of his life praying on his knees (online there are numerous references to james "camel knees")., also an ancient confession of faith (1cor 15, refernces habermas), and another mention of james & the post-ress appearance of Jesus to James ...he then talks abt the importance of believing we will have actual, physical bodies in heaven..he jokes about "perma flesh"..no disease, no allegies, .etc, ..and "death will be swallowed up in victory' (says its a play on words for jews), urges us to "keep an eternal perspective", ..ends w referance to hermann lange (who wrote a letter to parents)..& mentions his book entitled "wonder of heavens"(?)..."
