If you are a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers or Brad Pitt, then this news might be of interest of you. The actor is currently filming his latest project titled "Moneyball" in Los Angeles, and the film production decided to take over Dodgers Stadium on Monday afternoon to film some crucial scenes that are a part of the film.
"Moneyball" is based on a 2003 book by Michael Lewis that tells the story of the life of Oakland A's general Manager, Billy Beane. Brad Pitt portrays the controversial figure. Sony Pictures obtained special permission from Major League Baseball to film at the landmark stadium.
Seven hundred extras joined Brad Pitt and the production crew as shots for a montage were shot in addition to a reenactment of a pivotal 1984 game between the Dodgers and the New York team Beane then played on, the New York Mets.
Todd Christensen, the location manager for the production, had this to say about filming at the stadium: "Being a Dodgers fan and being here at Dodger Stadium, it was just great."
The "Moneyball" production isn't the only project to use the stadium for filming this year. Television series "Criminal Minds" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" also used the stadium for scenes this year. Commercials for Wendy's and Microsoft also made use of the facility. To use the venue, it costs anywhere from $10,000 to $25,000 depending on what is needed.
"Moneyball" is set for release in 2011. Production should wrap up in the weeks ahead. What do you think? Are you excited to see this one from Brad Pitt? For the latest in movie news, go here.
