RE RUSSIAN MAIL-ORDER BRIDES

Re RUSSIAN BRIDES: that's funny you mention that girl from russia & the annulment of the marriage...my cousin Eric (1 year older) did something like that..married a russian girl..a mail-order bride of sorts...her name was "Katcha"...& they happened to move to Jackson, WY the summer I stayed there...at my aunt's house. They lived at my aunt's house with me & my older cousin Todd. She was fairly nice altho they did have some fights & I didn't think they would stay together, but last thing I heard they were still together & living in Indonesia or something like that.

I'm sure she probably thought she was marrying a "rich American" but Eric must have fooled her. He had very little & also couldn't drive a car because he had a severe vision problem. He was allowed to drive a moped, but nothing more. Poor guy. He worked at the Jackson Airport as a valet & one day he was riding his moped to the airport & had mechanical problems, so he parked it on the side of the road & hitched back to the house. He called for a tow-truck from the house, but by the time they returned for the moped it was gone (somebody had stolen it, probably threw it into the back of their pickup).

I remember hearing about it & YES it was sad but I couldn't help but laughing to myself because there was something so tragi-comical about it. It was like difficulty & harship, one after another for the two of them that summer (she was having a hard time with finding & keeping work ).

Eric ended up getting a better moped anyways, so it turned into a blessing. He also ended up in the hospital for a few weeks that summer...not sure why. My aunt Martha thought he was faking. He could also be a bit of a jerk & a conniver sometimes, but I hope all is well for him & katcha now.

The other Russian bride story I remember is when I was doing my Worldwide Wife Search & I met this russian girl online (or so I thought) & she started emailing me & said she lived in a little rural town in Russia but ws planning on coming to America & wondered if I could pick her up at the airport.

This was just a friendly conversation at the time, not a marriage or partnership proposal. I was thinking as a Christian & that if she was truly coming here I would try to help her out. So this went on for a few days & then she said she was taking the next plane to America but she needed a little financial help, ha ha.

She apparently wanted me to wire her money for the plane trip. At that point I began to think it was a scam & for that matter "she" could have been anybody, anywhere, maybe not even a girl, & maybe not even russian. She had not been convincing enough & various things "she" said by email didn't make sense (but at first everything seemed true...she played the part of a poor russian girl from a small town with strict orthodox upbringing,,etc...& wanted to be sure I wasn't a drinker like "all the russian men...").

Ha ha, that was the end of my communication with "russian girls." Its too bad, because I've actually seen & met some russian girls around Los Angeles on a casual social or church basis who seem sincere & honest (& I'm sure some of them are, but then, some aren't). Maybe the russian girl Mel Gibson met wasn't so innocent either.
