THE WORD "HOMOPHOBIC" is MISLEADING b/c it suggests "fear of" , BUT CRITICISM of GAY LIFESTYLE is NOT ALWAYS BASED on FEAR . If you speak Biblically against homosexuality, you are taking a position for a specific reason & purpose, not just fear or ignorance. But when they accuse a person of being "homophobic" it puts him or her on the defensive as if you are some sort of uneducated redneck simply "afraid" of gay people, when, in fact, you may be very educated & speaking deliberately & conscientiously against something. This guy, Paladino, was put on the defensive by Cuomo.
