Why is SEX so embarrassing ? Sure, whoever videotaped the poor fellow having sex was WRONG & violated his privacy, but should he be so embarrassed that he thinks his life is ruined forever ? I'm at the CORONADO ISLAND library (Mostly white, not yet infiltrated by minorities) & a black girl just called a white guy a "WHITE RACIST SCUM..." ! I didn't see what triggered the interaction...but the gal sounded harsh..the white guy just stood there & listened & walked away & said, "you're crazy" & she said "No you're crazy"....I'm sure that the tranquil island of coronado won't last much longer the way it is.
.., even when I was on the navy base, I was treated GREAT by the white guys, even some called me "sir" like I was a "superior" But then a few of the minorities in uniform, on or off duty, called me "MAN" (which is derogatory, like "dude", except when said by PEER-to-PEER in a truly friendly way) .

9/28/10 WHY DO THEY CALL ME JEWISH & WHAT THE HECK DO THEY MEAN BY IT ?
Acc. To the "JEWISH JOURNAL" there were RACIAL BRAWLS at this school a few years ago...one kid did the "Jewish" mumbo jumbo today to me...2nd time this year...but now its being "muttered" so I just barely hear it...bbut since I DO HEAR IT, I call them ON THE SPOT about it.
...so I heard this kid say "He's Jewish" to a bunch of his friends as they entered the room...& I looked at him sternly & yelled "NO I'm NOT JEWISH..I'm CHRISTIAN, but if shouldn't matter here...& the way you say it makes me think YOU'RE RACIST...& racism isn't allowed here..." I wasn't sure which of the boys had made the comment so I was talking to them all..nobody dared admit saying it...so apparently it was meant to be derogatory...
...so I think in some cases its kids just trying to de-popularize me for whatever petty reasons they might have...most of the students DON'T HAVE A CLUE as to what is bad about being Jewish & I'm not so sure the kids saying it have any real clue either..its as if its something they picked up somewhere (like the F word) that they realized they can get some attention with if they say it...just randomly pick somebody out & call them "Jewish" & get attention, I guess.

GRAND RAPIDS to MUSKEGON DOESN'T SEEM SO FAR ANYMORE
I remember when we were growing up in GR & my dad would go to Muskegon every Tuesday for the whole evening to do pastoral counseling at a church & I thought it was SO FAR AWAY & He told me one time that he liked the drive...gave him time to think.
...& now I appreciate what he was saying...distancing yourself periodically from your "core" group or home or habitation can be very helpful esp to allevaite stress or anger, etc...& now GR to MUSEKEGON doesn't seem far at all. I'm cruising from L.A. to SAN DIEGO right now & that's 2 hours & actually seems fairly close...
9/28/10 Re NIT-PICKING INSIDE A PUBLIC SCHOOL
So 1st period had JUST BEGUN when a student-messenger from the college center came in & asked me to takr the class to the college center for a presentation. I knew nothing about it nor did the teacher leave any instructions about it, so it apparently wasn't on the calendar, but Ms. Walling in the career center apparently decided otherwise...so I took the class there & it was outdoors by some picnic tables. The kids sat down on the benches & I sat on top of the table in the back (not blocking anybody) so I could see the kids & help Ms. Walling if they were not cooperative. Suddenly, she says LOUDLY, "Sir, please don't sit on the table. You're setting a bad example." What the ----?! I couldn't believe it. I'm NOT a kid. Just like when a kid says to me , "I thought we couldn't use cellphones at school?" when I periodically use my own phone in the classroom, I say, "That's right, YOU CANNOT, because YOU are a kid. I'm NOT A Kid." & I'm not using it to call my girlfriend just to chat , ha ha. But really, maintaining control in the classroom takes a vvariety of techniques, esp as a sub, including physical motion & positioning in some cases, & sometimes "elevating" yourself slightly above them helps, such as sitting on top of the table in some cases. I think she was looking for something to nitpick about to reduce her insecurities. I figured that was what was going on at the other school as well. Some of the office workers are insecure...in some cases because they don't have enough to do & wonder why thet get paid so much to do nothing when the teachers are so busy & getting paid so much less. So they go "belly up" & start nitpicking . So I left her a long hand-written note about it. Some of them keep thinking that I'm in this for the money & better keep my mouth shut or I will lose my job, but that's not what its about for me.

* 9/25/10 I REALIZED WHY I'M COMFORTABLE ON A MILITARY BASE
I'VE BEEN WANDERING AROUND THIS HUGE MILITARY BASE on CORONADO ISLAND today & I just realized why I feel somewhat comfortable around the military; my dad has some of that "military" milieu in him from his two duties of service in the national guard & my uncle was a career man in the army (lieutenant colonel). They conveyed some of that military duty to us...I NEVER thought of my dad as a "miltary man" before but suddenly I realized that's part of his "ethic."

A WICKED GAME OF "GOTCHA": A VICIOUS CYCLE
A HUSBAND MOWS the lawn..comes inside, grabs a soda, sits down & relaxes for a moment & the wife comes along & says, "there you, sitting down again, doing nothing" ha ha.. or a wife plans a nice meal..goes shopping...prepares the table..cleans & cooks everything, & the husband sits down to eat & sees the wife sitting down for a moment while waiting for the roast to finish cooking & says "You lazy woman, why don't you sweep the floor while your waiting for the roast ? "
That's what I mean by dysfunctional...more like a game of gotcha, but not congruent with the truth..or the secretary goes into the lunchroom & says to the teachers on their lunch break, "THERE ya'll are, sitting on your lazy butts again" ...ha..again, NOT congruent with the whole picture...COPS prey on this phenomenon as well..randomly "catching" us making an "illegal u-turn" or not wearing our seatbelt & treating us as if were 100% BAD rather than 99% GOOD.
