Of state but he had a speech impediment...he was a cardinal b/f a priest...he qualified...to be priest..then archbishop of milan...council of trent..he founded seminaries...insisted on the uprightness of clergy...died young 43...overcame his...phrase "power corrupts" exceptions to this maxim, borromeo was exception. He used the gifts God gave him...I'm reminded of my HS boys & girls..so gifted...they have power..athletes, smart, beautiful...how will they use their power...? Humility...with gifts..DON'T LORD IT OVER OTHERS////power does not always have to corrupt..
