12/26/09 c-blog,  WHY DID JESUS REMAIN WITH HIS PARENTS FOR 30 YEARS, OLQA M: "...Grandparents looking at nativity scene witdh grandkids...much joy...but also sadness..families can't be together..festivity & also sadness...enjoy letters..bring up to date..people talk re children...lovely pic of family...mts...seashore..living room..but some went on to tell some of the sadness too...one from a relative, another from friend...jack is in the state penitentiary...long for day when he will be back...another family...dignified..talk about daughter..occass..hear..heard she's living on the street...this honesty. Refreshing...they don't ink out the "family lies"..family life..come to know collectively God's plan...always God's people ..we are members of the holy family...see what love the Lord has bestowed on us...imagine the holy family...Joseph, Mary & Jesus as being a typical ...most don't have God as a member of the family...but consider...mary ...Jesus was an only child, man inhouse not his father...He lived at home until after 30 years..engage in activity not recommended by parents...every family special cut..not two families the same...heard in gospel today..at age 12 Jesus bar mitzvah..journey to galilee..at 12 he would take on responsib as adult...problem being at age 12 the time when kids want to show their own independence..Jesus no exception..went off to temple alone..He began to engage the temple leaders..they were stunned...when parents found Him they rebuked Him...Jesus responds 'Why looking for Me...did you not know I had to be in my fathers house ?' See in Jesus a young man who dearly loved parents but also wanted to be His own man...parents could inspire & prepare Him for adulthood but could not control...not a big stretch to say we should be like Holy Fam...why did Jesus remain w/ parents for 30 years...don't know but not wasted ...there in Nazareth Jesus advanced in age wisdom...30 years prepared for 3 yeards of ministry...human family is a kind of sacrament..they tell us of the presence of God that we do not see...vocation of family..not to stand in way of God but to be the reflector...families become quasi-sacraments (my language)...the love...that we are called children of God..God trinity is the first family..we are called into that family..however..sacramentality..how God revealed in family..b/c opaque..tragic..children of God...provide for all children..not just families w/ superior resources...healthcare, nutrition. Protection.."
