..kids do that to me every now & then..they fix a stare at me..& I try to ignore them..(parents are very protective of their kids..if I'm alone, which is almost always, I would never be friendly with a kid..parents don't like it)..it happened at harvest..2 nights in a row..kid stares at me apprntly wanting something from me..not sure what..so finally I stare back..& say "hi" but then the parent gets concerned...why is this stranger saying hi to my kid..while I'm thinking, why don't u teach your kid not to stare, or if he is trying to be friendly, tell him to say "hi, how are you?"
