12/2/10 ONLY WHITE PEOPLE CAN BE RACIST ?
That seems to be the message I hear from "non-whites" every time I mention racism against white people, or in particular, me as a white person in mostly non-white schools. Nobody (or not many) thinks of themself as "racist", & often it is not conscious racism (not intentional) but simply "institutional racism". & all it takes for institutional racism to materialize are numbers (I.e whichever skin color or race is the majority in any particular organization, that color will slowly succumb to "institutional racism", perhaps without even knowing it (at first).
Los Angeles is a city of "minorities", which makes so-called minorities a majority. Add to it the fact that public schools emphasize teaching the history of white racism towards non-whites (I.e. slavery, unfair treatment of migrant workers from Mexico, mistreatment of American Asians during WW2, etc) and you may be able to acknowledge that anger or prejudice towards white people in Los Angeles may exist, even though white people alive today (especially younger ones) had nothing to do with any of the past "sins".
