NEW TREND re "EDUCATION OFFICIALS": "WHEN I WAS in the CLASSROOM..."

NEW TREND re "EDUCATION OFFICIALS": "WHEN I WAS in the CLASSROOM..."
I've been listening to NPR for some time now & have noticed on more than one occassion ..when education officials speak ..more & more they are adding "When I was in the classroom..." ...I heard LAUSD superintendent say it (& also "when I was principal") in conversation w/ Warren Fletcher (new utla president), & also heard a guy named Zimmer (also from LAUSD) say it. My question is whether they are 4 REAL or not ? We hear about people, including politicians, making things up on their resumes every now & then, so how do we know these education people really did teach at one point in time ? And if so, for HOW LONG ? & where ? In some cases, before you can get an "office job" in education, you must have a minimum # of years in the classroom. Some of these office people do the bare minimum & then IMMEDIATELY jump into an office job. They do NOT stick it out for the long haul in the classroom, which is what develops character & also wisdom ( as well as empathy for the long-term educator with perseverance) . And also WHERE they were in the classroom makes a difference. If a person was in a suburb school for a few years, or more, & then comes to the LAUSD (which is much less of a suburb experience) will he have the requisite understanding to effectively deal with LAUSD type issues ?
