12/11/11 CONGRATULATIONS TO GRCH EAGLES ON AN INCREDIBLE SEASON (football) : [I found this story online re my high school alma mater grch varsity football team & their incredible 2011 season ...they went undefeated up until the last game versus EGR (east grand rapids). I (Vander Kok) played on the team thru 1985 & we had a good team, but didn't come close to being undefeated. Read the story By Justin Schipper "...It had all the makings of a special weekend. The excitement could be felt all week ong throughout the halls of Grand Rapids Christian High as students, faculty coaches, players, and sports fans in general envisioned beating our cross town rival East Grand Rapids in two sports, on back-to-back days. As last week progressed the buzz was felt throughout the community as both Grand Rapids Christian and East Grand Rapids prepared for arguably the biggest football game the area has seen this 2011 season. The game featured the Eagles coming in 10-0 against the Pioneers (7-3) Fans from both schools started to file into the stands over 90 minutes before the game as they battled for the best seats in the house.
