M: " I hear these confessions...guilt about swearing at a driver who cut me off..we think we aren't good eonough..as if society is caesar ..but "His will is our peace" says Paul..ever present deep within us..even in midst of worse evil...No hit so deep that God is not deeper still..Corrie ten boem ..conc.camp...cath. mystic.said "all of us like passngrs on train w/ beautfl scenery, but some pssngers keep shades down, don't look..others enjoy the beaty..enjoy the peace..God's peace..which type of passnger r u ? Some feel alone..Jesus doesn't play the honor-shame game..He knew he was a beloved son of God..the margnlzed..untouchbles..prostitutes..women children..heard his voice..compassion ..forgiveness..set free from shame blame game..identified w/ job description...to love as Jesus loved them..opt out of shame-blame..even in families..families can be powerful..for good or bad..Jesus is not speaking literally..it took me decades to realize I was following a false god--the approval of family...who are we without ...to follow Jesus ..deny self, take up cross & follow me..stand up for selves..to those who bully us...denying self may mean saying no to bullies...ending toxic rshps..dying to abuse, no longer victims..learn to find God's peace..hit w/..instead of reacting in het of anger..respond w/ fairness..as son & daughter of god..w/o becoming a bully ourselves..newer healthy rshps..denying self can bring us home..this is the good news..we honor those who labor + sacrifice this weekend..next few weeks..challenge more..journey of faith...open windows of hearts,minds to God's love'
Wisdom 9:13-18b "Who can know God's counsel, or who can conceive what the LORD intends? Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say,'This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish. Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, anyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple"
