3/23/11 7-11 across from el camino college:
This TACO BELL was fine, but since the 7-11 about a block south on the same street isn't listed on google maps, I decided to add a review for the sleazy 7-11 just south of the taco bell. Without going into details, one of the non-American clerks (aren't they all?) Did the 1-2-3 clerk changeup on me...started out with respectful greeting (or at least neutral) & then did the cowardly "thanks man" punch as he ended the transaction.
U never know with some of these poker-face cashiers if they're going to do a little sucker punch at the end of the transaction.They always wait until the end, by the way, b/c then u can't back out of the deal for their lack of respect. Its very cowardly & un-American. I added "Thanks dude" loudly to make it even, but the damage was done. I left feeling bad.
For those who don't know southern Cal, calling somebody "man" here is a veiled derogatory term. It's not as bad as being a "dude" but not as high as a "sir." It always amazes me how much these clerks gain such a high sense of entitlement that they feel they have a right to stand in judgement over us ...to deem us worthy or not....
Why don't they stay in school, not just eke out an existence behind a cash register their whole life (and by the way, how much of what they make goes back to their "home country" (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, etc) rather than gets spent here to help the American economy?) , or if so at least make a point of encouraging..or giving to charities..not take advantage of us & disrespect us & also not selling porno...
Subsequently, I spoke with the manager on the phone. He seemed a little more upfront & respectful, which was encouraging.
