I remember while I was at calvin college in the mid-80's (I think Mouw was still there as well at the time) Howard VanTil published "The 4th Day" which proposed an alternative understanding of the creation story...& my grandfather leo peters made a stand for a 6-day literal creation...in fact grandpa went on an extended "crusade" of sorts to defend literal 6-day creation.] Mouw says: "... There is a lesson there. The literalists hold to a “scientifically accurate” Genesis 1 in which, it turns out, they can’t really find much to preach about I find the first chapter of the Bible to be exciting to read and proclaim..."
