Re CHELSEA HANDLER ("CHELSEA LATELY") & REESE WITHERSPOON: The REAL THING IS BETTER
So I'm at the CHELSEA HANDLER talk show shortly before Christmas 2010. Its called "Chelsea Lately" and it's my first time there. Unique setting for the show, you would never suspect they do a talk show in this warehouse on Olympic Ave in west Los Angeles. But there it is and there I was expecting to see Reese Witherspoon as the special interview guest.
As it turned out, they had pre-recorded Chelsea's interview with Reese (who, by the way, I saw receive a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame a few weeks prior; and seemed like a nice gal; she even brought her kids with her). Anyways, they showed us the tape of the interview or conversation between Chelsea & Reese and the one interaction that STANDS OUT in my mind, in retrospect is when Chelsea asked Reese about the "love scenes" she's been in, in recent movies.s
Reese responded, and then Chelsea said something like the following: "That's so nice. Its even better than sex in real life. No guilt...." ha ha. Of course, love scenes taped for tv & movies is not real love or sex . The closest thing to "real" is maybe they actually kiss in front of the camera. Anything else that happens is probably fully clothed under blankets.
The point is that Chelsea's comment highlights the FALSITY of Hollywood and the danger of making "fake life" better than "real life." Its a theological danger, actually. Jesus Christ came to earth as an example of the power of "incarnation" (I.e. "in the flesh", in this case meaning positively presenting one's self as human; in other cases "in the flesh" can mean negatively & harshly judgmental of others).
God wanted us to be positively IN THE FLESH, meaning genuine, authentic, actual interactions with others. This means life is sometimes messy. Peoples feelings get hurt. Physical pain happens, as well as physical pleasure: i.e. real sex & love between a real man & real woman in a real committed relationship . Sometimes "love hurts" but that's life. Jesus truly felt the pain on the cross. It wasn't simulated. We must keep trying to truly engage with one another despite the chance & probability of getting hurt. We cannot fall for pretend love, pretend sex, and call it "real" or "better" simply because it is a way to avoid getting hurt or hurting others.

Its about minimizing their perseverance thru difficulty without numbing their brains and bodies . It is comparable to doubting the suffering of Christ on the cross, or to say "He must have been drunk on the cross to deal with the pain." No he wasn't. He felt every single nail and all the pain, and FOR OUR SAKE. Nonetheless, Jesus did offer "transcendence" from the pain of this world thru companionship with the body of Christ and we have the Eucharist today as did they also join in communion with Jesus, including a little bit of wine. But it wasn't the wine that took them away, it was the brotherhood (& sisterhood, later) of Christ. That is our transcendence, not drugs or drunkenness. We suffer together as a whole body thus helping eachother cope.

Oh c'mon...because of 9/11 Pasadena claims they now need to search all motorhomes along the parade route ? Get real. If a terrorist wanted to sabotage the parade they could drive up in a suicide bomb vehicle at any time and place along the parade route and not much could stop it. They wouldn't need to park near the parade route at all.
The search is an excuse to show power & maintain the heavy-handed control Pasadena Police enjoy way too much. I can't help but wonder if Hugh Halford, an assistant city attorney for Pasadena is behind this new "policy." I'm sure the German Nazis had "security" reasons for searching all Jews as well, and later "good security reasons" for eliminating the Jews.

The main reason cops are given "immunity" from almost all prosecution in the line of duty is because they wouldn't accept jobs as police officers if they weren't given immunity.
Thus, the municipality must make some sort of "guarantee" that they will back up the officer 100% for any and all situations where the cop is "just doing his job." Its the nature of the beast. As I was saying about "dropouts"...its not that dropouts are so dumb, or that "college kids" are so much smarter, its that college kids accepted the SACRIFICE of going to college, while droputs do NOT.
Going to college doesn't necessarily mean you are an Einstein genius, nor that u can even operate a cash register, nor a police radio for that matter (without training).
Most of the time going to college means you have at least a little bit above average intelligence or more, but more importantly that you are willing to SACRIFICE self, time, money for the greater good, and dropouts are NOT willing. Thus we have to dangle little "sweets" to get these dropouts to participate in society, whether it be as a clerk or a cop or a cashier or a cook....whatever it may be. What we NEED MORE OF are people willing to sacrifice for the greater good without some sort of "guaranteed immunity" .
In some regards going to college has some parallels with "carrying the cross." The Christian walk of life is a sacrifice too, with no guarantees of anything here on earth. We do hope for heaven, but we do so solely by FAITH. We have NOT empirically seen this heaven, nor empirically seen God or Jesus. Some days (actually every day I encounter it in one way or another) its frustrating when u encounter one of these clerks or cops or mechanics who will only do something if u "show them the money" as they say. They need to see the gold, or they don't give. Nothing is done out of "goodwill" or generosity of "for the kingdom". "Show me the money" they say. Show me the LOVE I say. Just a little bit.

College dropouts are NOT always stupid.sometimes I run into a dropout..maybe a cop, maybe a clerk..maybe a clerical worker..or a mechanic and they try to do the "So u went to college & u don't know this or that" routine..trying to make me feel stupid or inferior..and for a while they're "spiritual warfare" worked on me..I felt bad and they made me feel stupid..but then I realized..I'm definitely NOT stupid, but don't know everything..and definitely don't know all the "mechanical" things of so many different jobs..even a garbage man knows a lot of things I don't know. I couldn't drive a garbage truck without some training. Does that make me stupid? No, it just means I haven't been taught that skill. I couldn't even operate a cash register without some training. Does that make me stupid? No, it just means I haven't been taught that skill. A dropout will laugh at "college boy" & say, "If you're so smart why can't you operate this cash register?" And I will say, "If you're so smart, why don't you know that they don't teach cash registers 101 in college?" We don't learn such a skill because we don't expect to be operating cash registers after college, thank u very much.

...at us at bandfest....actually they just yelled at us to leave and I'm driving away..they told .us we can't watch the bands from the parking structure despite the rain..I wonder if Hugh Halford has been coaching them..; call and complain ? 11/2/10 cblog GOD HAS A PLAN OF TIME FOR WHEN U WILL BE PICKED TO MOVE FORWARD INTO THE BOUQUET OF ETERNAL LIFE ; CK 730a "...we see what is still left..what we see in human way only goes so far...one time I was in a field of flowers..mexico..people showing me around..suddenly reds yellows whites..in between emptiness..weeds..farmers said.."that's what we just picked... the latest crop'..had to be picked ..just blossoming..pick 2 soon or late..won't work..god has a plan for each of us..to pick us at right time..not too late or soon..but to be transformed..flowers look good in a bouquet...faithfully departed..blossomed..gone into new heaven..new banquet..new bouquet...we can accept this ...knowing those before us..green pastures..bouquet of eternal life..."
