..this time, right before the angels game,I went in for something to eat (its a relatively new supermarket chain around here w/ ALL SELF-scan checkout lanes. As I enter, a young latino says "Hey boss" (That's their way of saying half-heartedly "You're the boss",..its a little sarcastic, but I usually let it go...REALLY, we don't want or need to be called anything at all, as I said to Ever a week or so ago, "Just DO YOUR JOB")...
I just ignored him & kept walking..found something to buy & was checking out at self-scan & he came up to me as if I needed help. I'm perfectly capable of self-checkout & waved him off. Then as I was walking out he said "Have a nice day.." & I said, loudlt, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING TO ME AT ALL" & he scoffed as if I was being so rude..
But there's NO OTHER WAY with some of them..you have to be DIRECT . He didn't care if I had a nice day or not & he knows I am able to use the self-scan without help. I've had to talk to a supervisor here previously about employee attitudes & may have to do so again.

RE TRUSTING WHAT (Or WHOM) YOU CANNOT SEE
...sitting in kinkos working on my air show video..this guy was on the phone..apparently a contractor of some sort..having tough times..you could hear the desparation in his voice..PRAY for him..times like this can be tough but also spiritually fruitful for those who NEVER before knew God..nor of any HOPE beyond what they can see...lots of contractors, builders, etc...their FAITH is in only what they can see & build..funny that Jesus started out as a carpenter,,,but went on to speak of things MUCH GREATER than what we can physically see & build...there's MUCH MUCH MORE..& its MORE REAL & TANGIBLE than the front door to your house...YES, SPIRIITUALITY is TANGIBLE, it is even PHYSICAL, but you have to at some point take some TRUSTFUL STEPS of FAITH into a new realm..beginning with, " JESUS, I BELIEVE in YOU ..." & then truly giving all your heart, soul, & mind to the Lord. It won't mean life is automatically happier or better, but TRUST ME, the PAYOFFS are REAL, IF NOT in this lifetime, then the NEXT !

BUYING AN ANGELS TICKET FROM SHAR ON KELL Y IN MAN BEACH
So I've been buying angel tickets recently from this lady on craigslist, named "sharon kelly" in manhattan beach....mostly by email..I paypal the amount to her & she emails the ticket which I print..but today I was in man beach (where uncle bruce lives btw)...& decided to pick it up from her house..I arrived & expected an anglo woman...but she turned out to be asian, ha ha..its funny b/c man beach has been an "anglo haven"for so long & she used an anglo name,, so it was a surprise

There's a Dutch society in southern cal that has periodic gatherings..I noticed it when I was looking for places to watch the dutch playing in the world cup (with other dutchman in los angeles)...but I realized in some regards I don't have much in common w/ true dutchmen (from netherlands) if they think of me as american & themselves as "true dutch."
Its like some of the latinos here in los angeles think of themselves as "mexican" but when they go to mexico, the "true mexicans" think of them as "latino americans", not mexican ..it reminds me of a book I read when I was trying to understand the immigrant experience called "NEITHER HERE NOR THERE" (I would be glad to be accepted as american but I don't have an "american name" I.e. davis, webb, powers, steel, etc..the typical cop names who declare themselvs true americans by virtue of their name) ...so some of us "dutch" remain "dutch" in America all our lives, but aren't considered dutch by dutch either.

Often times I'm driving around southern cal & I see somebody by the road, smoking, waiting for the bus, walking, talking on cell phone, etc & I think to muself, maybe that person feels discouraged, is lonely, or whatever...& I want to convey a message of hope & solidarity to them (I.e. I am with you, or more importantly, God is with you), but obviously we can't stop traffic to say hello, plus that person might think you're crazy or a wierdo or whatever...so instead, as you drive by you say a prayer for that person & you give a TINY BEEP, so it sounds friendly, NOT alarming, Nor is it disturbing to others or cars around you (for that matter, you must use discretion if & when to do a PRAYER BEEP depending on traffic, etc) . You might want to also give a friendly wave . & the rest is UP TO GOD...& hopefully that person will be strengthened..

I was reviewiing my notes from Muller's church history class @ calvin sem..& it says that calvin didn't believe in "choice" theology...but that faith was all about being "elect" & the will of God, not the will of man...this is why a lot of "calvinists" don't get too involved or excited about evangelism & events such as greg laurie's harvest crusade..but I myself, even tho born & raised in calvinist culture believe in the importance of telling the good news..not as "works" but simply a response to the goodness & graciousness of God..its like u were saved from drowning..wouldn't u want to tell somebody about the person who saved u ? But then that's also why some people need to be told they are sinners...esp in american culture u can live fairly easily w/o ever thinking u are a sinner & need grace...sure the will of god & election matters but I think its dangerous to rely too much on theology alone as a basis for being "justified."

EVERY TIME A FAN RUNS ON the FIELD, THE ANGELS ANNOUNCER SOUNDS as if he's so HURT by the interruption...& then he tries to sound STERN....ALWAYS ADDING, "it is a FEDERAL OFFENSE...to enter the field & will be prosecuted under federal law"...blah blah...as if the whole game was ruined by the fan's 10 seconds of "fame" ha ha

Or work something out w/ the fellow ? ..turns out this happened at a church in downtown los angeles & it was a fellow's "third strike" (meaning he had been convicted twice previously for petty crime). Since it was a third strike he was sentenced to 25 years. What would you do if you were the pastor ?
I read about this last week & apparently some legal group that helps prisoners thought it was a bit harsh & went to bat for him & got him released early.

WHY CELEBRITIES NEED BODYGUARDS
That's why CELEBRITIES NEED BODYGUARDS...can u imagine being a celebrity & deciding to just go to starbucks or the county fair ? U would be mobbed by people...some who may like u, others who hate u..& would love to get u in trouble just to get attention for themselves...I'm NOT a celebrity, obviously, but even I feel a little vulnerable sometimes..u r totally TRUSTING that people will be honest & respectable..but people are NOT, in fact, always that way

There are "EVIL SECULARISTS" who will USE ANY MEANS NECESSARY to bring a good Christian down..they're VERY SAVVY & have no scruples (no code of honor)...that's what I'm talking about when I warn of these various "dangers"...(I.e. community pools,etc)
The average person, regardless of race or gender, is generally trustworthy but there's always the "odd man out" (I.e. "person of the lie") to watch out for...such as Ever, for example, at the subway shop...suddenly as he's ringing up my order calls me "buddy" in an insulting & wrongful manner (this was in the sunset strip area where a lot of tourists come & a lot of young men go to the bars & strip clubs, etc) so he probably decided I was "just another one of them" (maybe esp bc I'm white ). He was WRONG, but the damage was done
Then, today, I'm walking thru the crowd at flugtag (where they are attempting to fly homemade airplanes)..at hawaiian harbor long beach, lots of girls in bikinis, nothing new around here...& I'm heading towards my car,
As I pass behind a girl who was VERY SCANTILY dressed & flirting w/ some boys, suddenly she turns & says, "DON'T TOUCH ME THAT WAY"...
I didn't even stop & look at her..& am not even sure she was talking to me but it seemed to be the case..I just kept going..if she was talking to me, she was FALSELY ACCUSING ME because I didn't touch her at all. & I wasn't going to turn around & face a false accuser with a bunch of guys who would love to act macho around her..
It makes me think of that song I heard at Harvest Crusade, "It happened in a blink..it happened in a flash.."..IN FACT that's exactly what happened between me & Haldford (another person of the lie) back in 2001 as I was in the midst of suing the City of Pasadena & he was the assistant city attorney who had just gotten fired by the City of Santa Ana ( & hired on the rebound by Pasadena)..that's a story I haven't completed telling, but I know it will come out at the right time..when the Spirit is ready & willing
