(Elderly prst) M"..to france visited shrines..retreat in ares where john vianney was pastor..during those 3 days learned quite a bit abt John & his work there..many of u are aware of his history...as a young man..not educated..poor family..wanted to be priest but didn't know latin or what was required at seminary at the time.but he persevered..bishop tutored him..over years had enough study to become ordained as priest..he was sent to twn of ares..at that time..not many who went to church..didn't believe inGod at time of french revolution..on way to ares..said to boy, "Show me the way to ares & I will show u the way to heaven.."..remarkable..spent almost all day hearing confessions..they came from all over france for his counsel..u get that feeling at the basilica..he's a patron saint..so today we ask fdor ..he had a difficult journey..he struggled..tormented by demons..couldn't sleep much..struggled as we all do..he made a statement..remarkeable..all of u who come to mass participat in the great liturgical prayer of the church..john knew it was of utmost imp...he said "private prayer is like straw, scattered here & there..set on fire..lots of little flames..but gather this & you get a mighty fire..public prayer is like that "

U see that's another reason why we ALL SUFFER b/c of other peoples ignorance..we get mistreated, wrongly stereotyped, etc... b/c of their "simple minds" & decision to take the easy way out..every time we go to a store, to a post office, interact w/ a cop, etc...we are probably going to be treated less than perfect b/c of their ignorance..
its usually NOT about the "mechanical" stuff they do (flipping burgers, taking out the garbage, sweeping, cleaning, writing a citation etc..) its ABOUT how they mistreat us or underestimate us or typecast us ...etc...all for the sake of making life easier for themselves at the expense of others .

I've discovered that even if my complaint doesn't at first seem to get much results, its sttill worth getting a few comments across & helps you feel more in control ...the fact is a lot of these people will do "WHATEVER THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH" & so you have to KEEP letting them know you are in charge (of low-level employees who don't seem to have a sense of direction)...
You & me, my friend, & all citizens with a sense of responsibility for keeping society in decent order can & should keep speaking up at every opportiunity..its really a form of "spiritual warfare" some of "them" are playing against us.. but the GOOD NEWS is they cannot win, UNLESS WE LET THEM...

FAULTY MINDSET of a LOT OF CLERKS,CASHIERS, COPS,MECHANICS, TICKET-TAKERS, etc. May COME FROM ARMINIANISM
There's a FAULTY MINDSET in a lot of people (clerks,cashiers, cops, mechanics, etc) that takes false pride in the fact that "at least they're working..." & they even look down their nose at people who went to college & don't "appear" to be "working hard" like themselves (if they must say so themselves). But the FACT is these people are NOT NECESSARILY working any harder, or doing anything more than the college kid with the book, or even the people enjoying themselves at the beach.
In SOME CASES, in fact, they may be DOING LESS than the book reader, or even the person enjoying an evening at the ballpark. Recreation itself is worthwhile & constructive & is also a form of "work"...ironically, the person "recreating" is working for "nothing" while some of the cops,clerks, security, ticket takers, etc are doing NOTHING MORE (or even less) than the person recreating but are getting PAID for it...
Yet even despite this, some of these clerks, cops, cashiers, ticket takers, mechanics, etc insist on being derogatory towards those who are paying their bills..the person who comes in & buys something, who orders coffee, who goes to a game. Were "paying customers", working hard to keep the peace, & yet some of these parasites not only take from us, they also often INSULT us in the process.
Theologically, the SIN of trying to be "justified by works' is called Arminianism (Not Armenianism) & I suspect even for those who say they are "not religious", part of their "works" lifestyle is infected by Arminianism & the false notion that they can be justified by works. GOD is just as happy, if not happier, with a person creating a PERFECT HAPPY day at the beach, for the GLORY of GOD, than He is with the grumpy clerk,cashier,cop,ticket taker, security guard, etc who prides himself on "working" ,albeit with an attitude of contempt & self-glory.

I PERSONALIZE EACH AUDIO BIBLE CD I GIVE OUT FOR FREE
No, I just "personalize" each CD w/ a handwritten note on it usually based on current events & the "target" audience (I.e. if I'm putting them on windshield wipers of cars at angel games..I try to mention something abt angels..or if at dodger games I make an analogy between baseball & faith..hoping to catch their attention so they will give it a few seconds of their time..chances are 90% of the audio Bible Cd's either only get listened to briefly or not at all...some end up in the trash (or on the street, ot get used as coasters for their beer, ha ha ) while others may end up in a drawer...a few may get passed on to others..then there may be the 1% that actually listen to it & value it..& for whom it becomes a source of inspiration...I'm REALISTIC..I know that there are a lot of competing interests or in some cases..those who are already Christians may have their own audio Bible source or aren't into listening to the Bible...ALL I can do is "plant the seed" (or try to)...I can't make it grow..but I hope that with a unique note on each one..it might capture their interest, at least briefly..

7/28/10 c-blog, The SPLENDOR of the KINGDOM, WHILE NOT ALWAYS EVIDENT, IS ALWAYS IN OUR MIDST, St. Columban 830a "Something very special..do anything to find this treasure..& pay anything to keep it..this implies the kingdom to be a difficult price..must give all..day to day commitment followers make in lives & hearts...the splendor of the kingdom while not always evident..is always in our midst..open hearts & minds to see it..the more we open hearts & minds..blessings..worth any sacrifice...to many of the jews..the kingdom was hidden bc they were thinking in terms of earthly...but Jesus was speaking of the heavenly kingdom..imp ...suffering & sacrifice..hallmarks of the kingdom..pick up cross...also re jeremiah..God will free him & protect him..foreshadowing of the great sacrifice Jesus makes for us..hear & reflect on these two readings..go forward..God's grace..... Jer 15.10, 16-21 " Woe to me, mother, that you gave me birth a man of strife and contention to all the land! I neither borrow nor lend, yet all curse me When I found your words, I devoured them they became my joy and the happiness of my heart, Because I bore your name, O LORD, God of hosts. I did not sit celebrating in the circle of merrymakers; Under the weight of your hand I sat alone because you filled me with indignation. Why is my pain continuous, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You have indeed become for me a treacherous brook whose waters do not abide Thus the LORD answered me If you repent, so that I restore you, in my presence you shall stand If you bring forth the precious without the vile, you shall be my mouthpiece Then it shall be they who turn to yo , and you shall not turn to them And I will make you toward this people a solid wall of brass. Though they fight against you, they shall not prevail, For I am with you, to deliver and rescue you, says the LORD. I could tell he spotted me out of the crowd & wanted to make a "power play" ...a bunch of us were standing on the railing...& the two nearby deputies didn't seem to mind...but I could see this big pig wanted to prove something...so he came up to us & avoided looking directly at me (telling me in fact, I was the one he wanted to try to bully )...& told us all to get down...it was standing room only & even standing u couldn't see the derby...very unorganized & not very well thought out...the way it was arranged

If it is anything like the one I "saw" (barely) tonight (7/25/10) ...my experience is that it is unorganized, lack of seating, & most of all one BIG MACHO RUDE DUDE overly-controlling the standing room crowd as if he thought this was a maximum-security event rather than a plain ol' county fair demolition derby (some people take their job too seriously & think they are too important)...

** 7/24/10 SAYING A PRAYER FOR THE DEMOLITION DERBY CROWD
frankly, as much as the demolition derby is a little brief thrill..its is exactly only that: very TEMPORAL (short-lasting)...& so as I sat there waiting for the demo derby to begin I began to think about the crowd, perhaps many of whom know nothing or little about anything more meaningful in life than temporal satisfactions...which need to keep being re+filled...without any everlasting peace....& my ultimate purpose in life is to TELL PEOPLE about more important things in life, namely Jesus Christ who gives everlasting peace & fulfillment...but yet go try & tell an average joe about Jesus & you might get a middle finger in your face or worse...so I usually do windshield evangelism, but I also pray...& one of my mottos is "prayer requires presence"...(so the closer you can feasibly get to the person or persons you are praying for, the better...Why? because it brings you closer to their situation in life & makes u less judgmental & more compassionate...in essence "incarnational" as Jesus was when He walked as a human on earth...
